Almost a decade ago, the World Economic Forum signalled a bunch of business intentions and priorities. They did what they said wanted to do... and it's been bad for consumers across the board, but I would argue especially in the realm of media, pop culture, and art.

So, join me for a recap of the history of a catchphrase, an exploration of rentier capitalism, and why I (and apparently others) are feeling the urge to retcon back to physical media these days.
