America’s Contrarian Age Is Ending — Now We Deal With the Fallout
There's a lot going on right now and I needed to get some thoughts off my chest. Join me on a meander to the local dog park as I unpack my emotional reaction to a piece of satire that I simply can't even enjoy anymore because the wreckage is too dire.
I'm going to try and thread a few needles here, but what I really want to talk about is the phenomenon of American performative contrarianism over my lifetime. How a much of people whined and complained their way straight into fascism because they fundamentally mistook inconvenience for oppression, and cared more about being edgy than being principled or brave. The vibe seems to be shifting, and this is a GOOD THING. But the damage is done.
As always, this is just one American's view of America from the outside, and I want to hear from you guys. Also, please feel free to tell me how cute my dog is.
